| At Kynast Steel, tubes are
a tradition!
1946: Otto Kynast founds a hardware
and household goods store in Badbergen
1950: After the invention of the frame
air pump, Otto Kynast gets involved in the production of bicycles.
1963: The 500,000th bicycle is built.
In the tube manufacturing section, tubes are not only produced for
bicycle frames, but also for a new business sector specializing
in producing leisure and camping furniture.
1966: 1,000,000 bicycles built. The
tube manufacturing section begins trading independently under the
name of Europa Stahlrohr GmbH & Co. KG and principally supplies
its parent company.
1985: : In the parent company, now
trading under the name of Otto Kynast GmbH & Co. KG, the 16,000,000th
bicycle is built. One quarter of Europa Stahlrohr's production is
delivered to external companies.
1992: Transformation of Otto Kynast
GmbH & Co. KG and Europa Stahlrohr GmbH & Co. KG into Kynast AG.
The tube manufacturing section delivers more and more to customers
from the automobile, furniture, and radiator industries.
1998: Production of steel tubes for
the bicycle industry is shut down after substantial changes to market
structures caused by the fact that the prices for imported bicycle
frames from Asia cannot be competed with. The steel tube section
is now solely a supplier for the manufacturing industry and delivers
more than 90% of its products to external companies.
1999: Kynast AG has to declare insolvency.
Production in the steel tube sector continues.
2000: The insolvency administrator
sells the essential parts of the company to financial investors,
and the new Kynast GmbH is born. Production of bicycles, leisure
furniture, lawn mowers, and steel tubes remains in Quakenbrück.
2002: The steel tube section is split
off into the newly founded Kynast-Steel GmbH. Separation from the
parent company is initiated. However, the parent company continues
to hold 100% of the shares of the business.
2003: Due to a liquidity gap, the
parent company again declares insolvency. Because of the continuing
close relationship to the parent company, insolvency also has to
be declared for Kynast Steel GmbH on 16th July 2003. After a mere
five days of stopped production, work is able to be resumed thanks
to the temporary insolvency administrator. The employees, suppliers,
and customers all remain loyal to the temporary insolvency administrator's
intentions for continuing production.
1st October 2003: Insolvency proceedings
are opened. The company continues to function smoothly. The administrator
and the works council agree on a social compensation plan and a
reconciliation of interests. On 7th November 2003, the creditors'
meeting approves the insolvency administrator's plan for continuing
the business.
2004: Kynast Steel GmbH i.I. (in insolvency)
expands the production program and increases the net product. It
is already possible to invest in a new computer system and in new
machines. All points of the plan are fulfilled. Long-term contracts
can be concluded and the capacities are being used to their fullest.
2005: The insolvency administrator sells the administrated company within the frame of a so-called transferring restructuring, including the right to the name "Kynast-Steel" to the Kynast-Steel GmbH® of the investor Horst Rumpf from Lienen that has been newly founded for the acquisition.
Kynast-Steel in insolvency becomes Kynast-Steel in liquidation GmbH.
2006: The new Kynast-Steel GmbH starts production with all the employees that have been taken over on 02 January 2006 and simultaneously processes accepted legacy orders of the insolvency administrator. "Kynast-Steel GmbH" was registered in the trade register at the Local Court of Osnabrück under 200213 in department B on 07 February2006. |
